Last month was a big one for the VRD Latin America team. We certified our very first psychologist in Guatemala—marking an exciting step forward as our technology continues to reach new corners of the region. Around the same time, our team was in Panama for a high-level meeting with leaders in health and education, supported by the Embassy of Panama in Costa Rica.
The conversation focused on future partnerships and opening certification opportunities for Panamanian professionals. Momentum is growing fast—countries like Paraguay have also shown strong interest in bringing VRD’s immersive healthcare tools to their local systems. We’re thrilled to see our impact expanding across Latin America and look forward to what’s next.
In early April, VRD HealthTech, in collaboration with the Board of Nursing of Costa Rica, led a hands-on workshop titled “Certification on the Use of Virtual Reality in
Mental Health.” The training brought together nurses from various public hospitals across Costa Rica, equipping them with practical skills to integrate immersive technology into their mental health care practices. Participants explored therapeutic applications of VR, including stress reduction, PTSD treatment, and cognitive rehabilitation, gaining firsthand experience with tools designed to enhance patient outcomes.
Upon completion, the nurses became certified in the use of VR for mental health, marking a pivotal step toward modernizing care within Costa Rica’s public health system. This initiative underscores VRD HealthTech’s mission to empower healthcare professionals through innovation and highlights the growing regional momentum for immersive technologies in clinical settings. As certified practitioners, these nurses are now positioned to lead the way in applying evidence-based VR solutions to support mental wellness in their communities.
During a recent visit to Guatemala, the VRD HealthTech team met with senior leaders at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, one of the country’s most respected academic institutions. The goal? To explore a potential partnership that would bring a VRD-certified virtual reality lab to their campus.
This exciting collaboration would provide students and professionals with hands-on access to immersive technology for mental health and clinical training, strengthening both educational and innovation efforts in the region. We’re thrilled about the possibilities ahead and look forward to working closely with UFM to bring this vision to life.
The VRD HealthTech team recently wrapped up a successful business tour in Panama, where we met with healthcare professionals and human resources leaders eager to explore the potential of immersive technology. The conversations reflected a strong regional interest in adopting VRD’s tools and training programs to enhance mental health services and promote organizational wellness.
This visit not only opened doors for future partnerships but also reinforced VRD’s growing footprint and relevance across Latin America.

VRD HealthTech is advancing discussions with UNIVERSAE University, a leading private institution in San José, Costa Rica, to formalize a strategic partnership that bridges immersive technology and higher education.
UNIVERSAE, known for its strong academic programs in psychology, nursing, and other health sciences, is working with VRD HealthTech to establish a state-of-the-art virtual and augmented reality laboratory on campus. This innovative facility will offer hands-on training for students and function as a certification center for professionals across Costa Rica and the region.
Together, we aim to empower the next generation of clinicians and educators with practical skills in immersive technologies — enhancing their ability to deliver impactful services in both clinical and educational settings.
In mid-May, four faculty members at UNIVERSAE University successfully completed their VRD HealthTech certification. Now qualified to lead certification programs themselves, these educators will play a key role in training both students and professionals in the health and education sectors. Their achievement marks a significant milestone toward sustainable growth and broader regional adoption of VRD’s immersive technology solutions.
VRD HealthTech, in proud collaboration with the Board of Professional Psychologists of Costa Rica, is pleased to announce an upcoming free webinar designed exclusively for licensed psychologists.
This informative session will delve into the transformative role of virtual reality (VR) in modern mental health care—highlighting both its current applications and future potential within therapeutic contexts. The webinar aims to provide valuable insights into how immersive VR technology is being integrated into clinical settings to enhance treatment outcomes, client engagement, and therapeutic innovation. In addition to the webinar, VRD HealthTech is excited to launch a new Certification Course in July, specifically tailored for mental health professionals.
This course will offer comprehensive training on the effective, ethical, and evidence-based use of VR in psychological practice, equipping participants with both theoretical foundations and practical tools to confidently incorporate VR into their therapeutic repertoire.
Stay tuned for registration details and prepare to join a growing community of forward-thinking professionals leading the way in digital mental health innovation.
