Meta is collaborating with 15 U.S. universities to promote its metaverse vision through virtual reality (VR) classes and exploring immersive technologies like VR and AR for education. This initiative aims to expand learning opportunities and promote VR adoption in education.
Partner universities, include Stanford University, Morehouse College, Arizona State University, Miami Dade College and University of Iowa offer VR courses focused on soft skills and real-life simulations. Still, some are exploring applications in nursing and surgery. Meta aims to expand educational apps and integrate VR into various subjects, citing studies that showed that VR learners are more engaged and confident in applying what they’ve learned.
"Though often associated with gaming, virtual reality (VR) is a technology rapidly evolving in healthcare. From pain management, to enabling more efficient surgeries, to gamifying physical therapy, VR use cases continue to proliferate.
It especially holds promise in revolutionizing the behavioral health space, with substantial research supporting its effectiveness. VR is being used to treat a number of conditions, including anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorders and autism.
VR therapy is not a new concept. It was formally studied more than two decades ago, though it wasn’t until the last few years that the field became prominent, with new companies moving into the space. And as technology has improved and gotten more intuitive to use, it has also become less expensive. And in 2022, the American Medical Association approved the first-ever CPT code for VR-mediated therapy. Not only can VR expand a provider’s arsenal of treatment tools, but it also offers a wealth of insights on engagement, biofeedback, wellness and other data. “VR is the technology for mental health."

Being a teenager is hard enough, but add a cancer diagnosis to those turbulent years and many kids understandably struggle with depression, anxiety, and other issues. Getting a teen to return to the hospital for mental health care isn't easy. Facing these challenges, Amanda Garbatini, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) and Dr. Marks, the pediatric hematologist and oncologist at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, decided to try a virtual reality young adult support group. Each participant gets a (VR) headset and can choose their own avatar. Four teens can be in the support group "room" at once. It allows patients to connect with others from wherever they are while still feeling very immersed and like they are in the same room.

"A product that is still very much in beta The Apple Vision Pro is extremely innovative; there's no doubt about that. Watching movies, looking at old photos and/or videos, and playing the immersive games on the AVP are breathtaking. However, from my own experience it is very buggy and becomes frustrating to use in places where there's not enough light such as during the nighttime."

"I recommend this product to strangers, friends, and family. Innovative product that increases efficiency. I highly recommend, the price tag is a burden but remember Apple allows credit monthly payment plans. Be sure to tell your cooperate supervisor that the apple eco system will promote a cutting edge solution that is corporate fatigue."
